Position Overview
The Climate Change Project Officer will be responsible for supporting the implementation and monitoring of MRCS’s climate change adaptation and resilience initiatives. This role requires a motivated, technically skilled individual with a passion for humanitarian work and climate justice. The officer will collaborate with community members, local branches, and international partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning, execution, and evaluation of climate resilience and adaptation projects at the community level.
- Conduct climate risk assessments, including community-based vulnerability and capacity assessments (VCAs).
- Work closely with MRCS branches to integrate climate considerations into disaster preparedness, health, and livelihoods programming.
- Coordinate climate awareness activities, trainings, and campaigns with youth and volunteers.
- Collect and analyze data for reporting, learning, and knowledge-sharing purposes.
- Contribute to proposal writing and donor reports, ensuring alignment with MRCS’s Strategic Plan and the Movement’s Climate and Environment Charter.
- Build and maintain partnerships with government agencies, academic institutions, and other stakeholders involved in climate action.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Climate Change, Disaster Risk Management, or a related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).
- Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in climate adaptation, project management, or humanitarian response.
- Strong understanding of Mongolia’s climate vulnerabilities and rural community contexts.
- Experience working with NGOs, government institutions, or international organizations preferred.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Mongolian and English (written and spoken).
- Willingness to travel to remote and rural areas.
